CAREER DEVELOPMENT
Know Your Worth & Ask For it: TED Talk

The last session of each Rise Up Bootcamp is a panel in which we encourage our participants to ask other RUP volunteers any questions that they may have. We host the panel as a way for our participants to interact with others and gain different perspectives from other individuals in addition to their coaches. One common question that we receive is how to facilitate salary negotiation when being extended an offer. In this TED Talk, Casey Brown shares helpful stories and learnings that can help you better communicate your value and get paid for your excellence.

Safeena Kassoo, RUP Alumni February 2021
“I’m thankful to my Rise Up coaches for being so incredibly encouraging and providing me guidance for the past 7 weeks. Their efforts to lift others up and empower a group of women who were once strangers have been so remarkable, and I appreciate all the work they put in to better prepare us for our careers. My skills have definitely improved since the start of bootcamp, which is a direct result of their work.”

VOLUNTEER HIGHLIGHT
Meet Ally Tan, Coach & Newsletter Editor
In my professional life, I work in Human Resources in the higher education industry. I started volunteering with Rise Up Project because I believe in their mission to uplift others in functional job searching areas, especially those of marginalized communities. I was a first-generation college graduate and want to provide my expertise with others. In my spare time, I love to be with my dog Honey, who I adopted in May 2020. She is my ultimate best friend and keeps me on my toes!

RECENT GRADUATESCongratulations to our most recent Rise Up graduates from our March session! Ana and Jeff are extremely proud to have been your coaches and wish you the best in your future!
