This Rise Up Project, although open to anyone, is designed to lift those that are disadvantaged in today’s socio-economic environment. This disadvantage can come as a result of inequitable opportunities or economic hardship.
Possible reasons for inequitable opportunities:
- Limited access to resources or opportunities that are available to others
- Being born into the lower end of the social economic scale
- Growing up with fragmented guardianship
- Systemic racism against persons of color
Economic hardship can come as a result of:
- Impact due to COVID-19
- Stigma associated with prior incarceration
- Changing work environment
- New skills required for changing roles at workplace
